چکیده

Aim : To compare IOP measurements using GAT and NCT in different IOP ranges (<10, ≥10-25 mm Hg and > 25 mm Hg) and evaluate the effect of CCT on IOP measurements by these techniques. Materials and Methods: IOP was measured by NCT followed by GAT in 188 eyes of 100 glaucoma patients attending glaucoma clinic at Chaithanya Eye Hospital , Trivandrum by a single observer. Mean of three consecutive readings were taken for analysis by both techniques. IOP values were compared in the three IOP ranges (<10, 10-25, >25 mm Hg) between the two techniques. Statistical analysis was done to know whether the two methods were interchangeable across the three IOP ranges. Results: Though good agreement was seen between GAT and NCT, the latter showed a tendency to overestimate IOP in the lower IOP range and underestimate in the normal and high IOP range. Mean values of GAT and NCT showed a statistically significant difference in the normal IOP range (10-25 mm Hg, significance level <0.08). However in the lower and higher ranges, the difference did not reach the level of statistical significance. NCT is more influenced by CCT. To conclude, though NCT has good accuracy and predictability to be used as a screening tool, it is not suitable for situations where accurate assessment of IOP has paramount importance as in glaucoma clinics. The influence of central corneal thickness and age on intraocular pressure measured by pneumotonometry, non-contact tonometry, the Tono-Pen XL, and Goldmann applanation tonometry.

AIMS To evaluate the influence of central corneal thickness (CCT) on intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements made with the Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), Tono-Pen XL, ocular blood flow tonograph (OBF), and Canon TX-10 non-contact tonometer (NCT). METHODS CCT was recorded for either eye (randomly selected) of each of 105 untreated patients with ocular hypertension and glaucoma attending...

Comparison of current tonometry techniques in measurement of intraocular pressure

PURPOSE To compare four tonometry techniques: Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT), Dynamic contour tonometer (DCT), Non-contact tonometer (NCT), and Ocular Response Analyzer (ORA) in the measurement of intraocular pressure (IOP) and the impact of some corneal biomechanical factors on their performance. METHODS In this cross-sectional study, volunteers with normal ophthalmic examination and n...

Ocular response analyzer versus Goldmann applanation tonometry for intraocular pressure measurements.

PURPOSE To establish correlations between intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements obtained with the ocular response analyzer (ORA) and the Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT). The effects of central corneal thickness on the measures obtained were also examined. METHODS This was a cross-sectional study. IOP was determined in 48 eyes of 48 patients with glaucoma In all patients, central cornea...

Comparison of Goldmann and Pascal tonometry in relation to corneal hysteresis and central corneal thickness in nonglaucomatous eyes

OBJECTIVE To compare measurements obtained by Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) and Pascal dynamic contour tonometry (DCT), and to study their relationship to corneal thickness and biomechanical properties in nonglaucomatous eyes. METHODS This is a prospective and randomized study of 200 eyes from 200 non-glaucomatous subjects who underwent intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements by GAT an...

Evaluation of Goldmann applanation tonometry, rebound tonometry and dynamic contour tonometry in keratoconus

PURPOSE To compare the intraocular pressure (IOP) measurements obtained with the rebound tonometry (RT), dynamic contour tonometry (DCT) and Goldmann applanation tonometry (GAT) in keratoconic corneas and to investigate the effects of central corneal thickness (CCT) and corneal radius of curvature (CR) on IOP measurements. METHODS Sixty-three eyes of 63 keratoconus patients were enrolled in t...
